The Lion Shrine

Famous saying by nomads in North Africa
King of beasts, phantom of the savannah, desert beast, the mountain king and master of hunters, these are all names that were used throughout history and in different terrains of the world to describe this magnificent big cat, the Lion. The Lion has been a source of inspiration in all times. The Lion inspired great leaders with courage, inspired philosophers with wisdom, inspired athelets with agility, and inspired people in general with the willingness to survive.
Almost any culture or society in the world has folkloric tales about lions, some of them are myths, and some are real. The presence of the Lion in the tales and popular stories of any society proves how much people were and still are fascinated by the Lion. Also, to live all these hundreds of years and still be recognized with the same status proves that the Lion is a real survivor.
I have always been fascinated and impressed by wild and big cats, but my all time favorite has always been the Lion. It is really sad that the world had more species of Lions and now they are extinct because of the inability of humans to grasb the idea of peaceful living with other creatures. Even today, the remaining species of Lions are not totally safe.
